Yesterday, Dalton Koch, Rachel Johnson, Amelia Ricker, Aubrey Koch, and Sara Osborne competed at the State Envirothon in Mifflinburg. They tested their knowledge in wildlife, soils and land use, forestry, aquatics, and this year’s current issue, “Non-Point Source Pollution: It Begins at Home!”

As part of the state competition requirements, the team also researched, created, and recorded a 20-minute presentation on non-point source pollution last week. Special thanks to Aaron Turner for helping with that project!

Out of 64 teams participating in the state event, this team earned an impressive 5th-place finish — an incredible accomplishment in such a challenging competition. Their recorded presentation received the 6th-highest score in the state with a 91, and they also achieved the 2nd-highest score in the wildlife contest.

What makes this achievement even more exciting is the growth they showed from last year. Four members of this team also competed at the state level last year, where they placed 24th — an accomplishment everyone was proud of at the time. To improve all the way to 5th place this year is a tremendous achievement and a testament to their hard work, dedication, and teamwork.

Due to the potential for thunderstorms during the middle portion of the day, the time for our May Day program on Wednesday, May 20th has been changed to 10:00 AM.

If you have baked goods for May Day, please be sure to have them to the school for 9:00.

Elementary students-Students have already selected a lunch option at school. Details about the lunch options are included on a form being sent home today. If the available options do not meet your child’s dietary needs, please be sure to pack a lunch for them.

If you have already completed and returned the sign-out form to take your child home after May Day, no further action is needed. If the change in time requires different pick-up arrangements for your child, a form will be sent home for you to complete and return to school tomorrow. If your child does not have permission to leave after May Day, they will return to the school until the regular dismissal time.

MS/HS students - If students have submitted a note for early excusal from school on Wednesday (by the morning of May 19th), they may leave from the field. Otherwise, all students are expected to return to the Middle/Senior High School following the morning's event. Students will return to a regularly scheduled day and lunch will be provided.

Thank you for your support as we look forward to another great May Day celebration.

We are excited to begin creating this year’s elementary school yearbook—a special keepsake filled with memories from throughout the school year!

We invite families to purchase a small recognition ad to celebrate their child. This is a wonderful opportunity to include a personal message, photo, or words of encouragement that your child will cherish for years to come.

Ads are available in a variety of sizes and are easy to create. Head to the Yearbook Order Center and put in the code 16901 to get started! Thank you for helping us make this year’s yearbook extra special!
